Frank Sevcik Memorial July 26, 2003
 



 

 

Frank Sevcik was delivered into the hands of his Lord on July 22, 2003 where he rests in eternal peace. He was 97 years old.

Frank retired from North Island Naval Air Station , San Diego, California. He was a Member of LU278 IBEW for 58 years. After his retirement he returned to the area where he grew up, Buckholts and Cameron, Texas.

Frank was the second of nine children born to Matej and Felomena (Tomek) Sevcik on April 1, 1906 in Marak, Texas. On May 28, 1928 he married Anna Mary Mraz. They had one daughter, Irene (Sevcik) Mitchell. In June 1949 he married Mildred Hartman. Both wives preceded him in death.

Frank and Mildred toured many countries. They belonged to a square dance club and danced often. Frank cherished his Czech heritage and especially loved the Czech waltzes and polkas that he and his first wife, Anna, danced.

When his grandchildren from Texas came to visit him in California, he delighted in taking them to Disneyland, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Knotts Berry Farm and many other attractions as well as picnicking in the mountains.

Frank was preceded in death by his grandson Wayne Joseph Mitchell and two great grandchildren, Keith Moody and Cheryl Anne Marie Davenport.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Weaver Mitchell, three granddaughters, Diane Moody, Beverly (Gary) Davenport, Mary (David) Carpenter all of Corpus Christi, Texas, a grandson, Allan (Cris) Mitchell of Heath, Texas, six great grandchildren, James Moody, Ryan (Jackie) Davenport, Cindy (Evan) Turner, Crystal and Cathryn Daveport, all of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Wayne B. Mitchell of Heath, Texas, two great great grandchildren, Gage and Jade Davenport of Corpus Christi, Texas, a brother Anton Sevcik of El Campo, Texas, a sister Mary Hubnik of Cameron, Texas, and a step-son Vern Lemmert of Pleasantdale, Nebraska.

The family wishes to thank Lydia Lerma his devoted and beloved caretaker who was so kind and caring and LVNs Kara Brooks and Brandi Thompson who showed deep concern for the family and Frank.

Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. on July 25, 2003 at Seaside Memorial Funeral Home Reid Chapel with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m . Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on July 26, 2003 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2045 18th Street at Baldwin Street with burial to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
