Funeral rites for Mrs. Ella Dillard Lee, age 73, who died suddenly at her Broad street home Wednesday evening were held Friday morning. The services were held at the Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church and the body was laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. Surviving are two sisters, Mesdames S. C. Ford of Martinsville, and Anne Arrington of Danville. Two grand children, Jack Orloff of this city and Sam J. Griggs of Norfolk, also survive. The deceased, a daughter of the late Overton and Sallie Hughes Dillard, was born at "Oakdale", the home of the Dillards, the location of which was just off Starling avenue, and destroyed many years ago. At the age of sixteen years, she was married to Samuel J. Griggs, of Henry county, to which union were born five children, all of who preceded her to the grave, as well as her husband. She married again some years later to Robert E. Lee of Norfolk, who died some years ago. The deceased was a grand daughter of General Joseph Martin, founder of Martinsville. With the exception of several years residence in Norfolk, the deceased made this city her home. [Ref. FOLLOW THE PERIWINKLE, VOL.
